API keys let external tools use the public API on behalf of your chapter. Keys are managed by chapter admins under Settings → API Keys.

Creating a key

  1. Open Settings → API Keys and click Create key.
  2. Give the key a name that identifies the integration (for example “Zapier sync”).
  3. Tick the scopes the integration needs. Grant the minimum: a reporting tool needs only *:read scopes.
  4. Optionally set an expiry date.
  5. Click Create. The full key is shown once. Copy it into the integration now — it cannot be displayed again.
The list shows each key’s name, the first characters of the key, its scopes, when it was created and last used, and whether it is active, expired or revoked.

Association-wide keys

Admins of a root chapter can create keys that work across every chapter in the association. Such keys must send a chapter_id on every request.

Revoking a key

Click Revoke next to a key and confirm. Integrations using that key stop working immediately. Revocation cannot be undone — create a new key instead.

Rotating a key

Create a new key with the same scopes, switch the integration over, then revoke the old key.
